HADLEY'S STORY
Hadley was born in Washington , DC and came to live with the
Bean's mom and dad, because the Bean's aunt brought him
home, and he decided to stay. His family named him for
Hadley's Rille, a geologic formation on the moon that was being
explored by  the astronauts of Apollo XIV. The original Hadley
was a famous astronomer who discovered the rille (canyon) on
the moon that bears his name. Hadley the cat was very proud
to have the name too.

Hadley was just a regular cat. No fancy breeding. He was an
American short haired cat, a name for a breed that doesn't
really exist. Just a regular mottled brown cat. Hadley would have
it no other way.

Hadley used to chase the birds in the back yard and one day
even jumped up off the ground and caught one. After that the
birds went crazy whenever he went outside, and would swoop-
dive right at him and try to peck him. Hadley tried to fight back,
but his yard  was never the same again. He could never just go
out and lie in the sun and stretch out his whole body as he
loved to do.

Hadley also learned to come when you called him with a high
pitched "ki, ki, ki"  This was very useful because Hadley's
parents had to go away for over a year and they left Hadley
with good friends in California. Hadley was sad, but he loved
the sunshine, and his big new yard, and his new parents were
very nice to him. But after 16 months he heard "ki, ki, ki" and
came running to see  that his real parents were back. Hadley
was a smart cat.

He moved to Seattle, Washington, and then came the Bean,
and the Beans' baby brother.  One day he even helped fight
the invisible monkeys ... but that's another story for another
day. Hadley lived a long and wonderful life, and even now many
years later, his family remembers, and misses him.
